Upscale AI launches multi-chip networking platform

Nvidia-backed startup Upscale AI has launched Token Fabric, a new platform that lets data centers mix AI chips from different suppliers.
The company, valued at $2 billion in June, unveiled the system on Thursday. Its goal is to break the lock-in that forces data centers to buy all their chips from one company.
Token Fabric combines Upscale’s own networking chips with Nvidia’s Spectrum-X technology and software. The system makes chips from rival makers work together smoothly.
CEO Barun Kar said he expects tens of millions of dollars in revenue next year. That could grow to a few hundred million in later years.
The first part of the platform will ship in the fourth quarter of this year. A full rollout is planned through 2027.
Upscale raised $190 million in June in a round led by Premji Invest. That took its total funding to $500 million. Backers include Nvidia, Salesforce, and Temasek.
