Tech Titans Join White House Dinner for Xi Jinping
Tech and media executives filled the White House on Thursday night for a state dinner honoring Chinese President Xi Jinping.
President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump hosted the dinner. According to the White House guest list, attendees included Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison, Tesla chief Elon Musk, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Apple’s Tim Cook, Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Nvidia’s Jensen Huang.
Fox News hosts Bret Baier, Laura Ingraham and Jesse Watters also attended, along with Supreme Court justices and administration officials.
Ellison’s presence drew attention because his company is close to completing a $111 billion takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery, which owns CNN. The network’s reporters were barred from covering the dinner even after a federal judge ordered their White House press access reinstated.
CNN said a White House “press wrangler” blocked two of its staffers from covering Xi’s arrival and told them to speak with communications director Steven Cheung. Reporters from MS NOW were also prevented from covering the event.
