New Uncharted game in works at Naughty Dog
A brand-new Uncharted game is being planned at Naughty Dog, according to a report citing sources close to the studio.
The new project would be a continuation of the series rather than a remake or remaster, and would include Nathan Drake. It is not yet known whether Drake would be the main character or a supporting one.
The report says the Uncharted game would be Naughty Dog’s next project after Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, with Shaun Escayg expected to lead it. Escayg previously directed Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in 2017.
Uncharted has been dormant as a mainline series since 2017. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End earned a 93 Metacritic score in 2016, and the remastered Legacy of Thieves Collection followed in 2022.
Sony has made no public statement acknowledging the project, the report notes. Naughty Dog’s main focus remains Intergalactic, which co-president Neil Druckmann says will be fully revealed in 2027 with no further information this year.
