Microsoft Launches $2,599 Surface Laptop Ultra With Nvidia
Microsoft has launched the Surface Laptop Ultra and Surface RTX Spark Dev Box, both powered by Nvidia’s RTX Spark chip. The 15-inch laptop starts at $2,599, undercutting Apple’s $2,999 16-inch MacBook Pro.
The chip pairs an Nvidia Blackwell GPU with up to 6,144 cores and a Grace CPU with up to 20 cores, with up to 128GB of unified memory. Microsoft calls it the most powerful Surface ever, with its brightest display and new magnetic USB-C charging.
The $5,999 Dev Box is aimed at developers running large AI models locally, offering one petaflop of AI performance and support for models up to 120 billion parameters. Microsoft is offering trade-in rebates of up to $1,000 for MacBook Pros.
Both are available for pre-order, with shipping from October 16. The launch marks Nvidia’s RTX Spark platform arriving in Windows laptops for the first time.
