Microsoft has rebuilt its Copilot app around three new tabs: Home, Code and Autopilot. The redesign, announced on September 25, turns the assistant into a single work hub for chat, coding and autonomous tasks.

Home merges Copilot Chat with Cowork, and Word, Excel and PowerPoint files can now be created and edited directly inside Copilot. Code lets people describe an app, dashboard or automation in plain English and get a working tool, powered by the same technology as GitHub Copilot.

Autopilot is the headline change. The autonomous agent, renamed from Scout, which Microsoft showed at its Build conference in June, can keep working in the background on long-running tasks with its own identity and permissions.

Home and Code reach Microsoft's Frontier early-access program in the coming weeks, while Autopilot enters private preview at the end of September. Pricing will split between a per-user licence and usage-based credits for agent work.

The move aims to end confusion over Microsoft's many Copilot products by putting them in one app.
