Google is turning Chrome into a study helper with Gemini-powered audio and video analysis plus interactive quizzes. The features were announced on September 24 and are rolling out on desktop in the US and India in English.

Gemini in Chrome can now analyze recordings beyond YouTube, including podcasts, lectures and videos on other sites, once they have played through. It can find specific details, pull out key points and explain confusing parts, according to Google.

Chrome can also turn any open tab into an interactive quiz. Gemini reads the page, from a Google Doc to a research paper or lecture video, picks out key concepts and generates questions so students can test themselves.

A third update improves tab transfers between devices: Chrome now keeps the exact scroll position and unfinished forms when a tab moves from phone to computer.

The rollout starts with a limited audience, with more regions and mobile support promised in the coming months.
