Huawei Launches Mate 90 With Homegrown Kirin 9050 Pro Chip

Huawei has officially launched its Mate 90 smartphone series in China, powered by the in-house Kirin 9050 Pro processor built on a new ‘LogicFolding’ chip architecture. The launch took place in Shanghai on October 1, 2026.
Huawei claims the Kirin 9050 Pro delivers a 31 percent performance increase over its predecessor. The chip uses a three-dimensional wiring technique that packs circuits more densely, a workaround for US export curbs that block access to advanced chipmaking tools. The series starts at 5,999 yuan for the Mate 90 and goes up to 12,999 yuan for the RS Ultimate Design.
The phones run HarmonyOS 7 and feature a second-generation Linglong display with peak brightness of 12,000 nits, an XMAGE camera system with a 200MP telephoto lens, and satellite messaging. Huawei says HarmonyOS now powers over 90 million devices, with a developer community of more than 11 million.
There is no confirmed launch outside China yet, as Huawei continues to focus on its home market while navigating trade restrictions.
