SpaceX will launch its Transporter-18 rideshare mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California on Thursday, October 1. A Falcon 9 rocket will carry 130 payloads for paying customers into orbit.

The launch window opens at 11:18 a.m. Pacific Time and lasts 58 minutes, according to reports. The mission will lift off from Space Launch Complex 4-East, which SpaceX leases at the base in Santa Barbara County.

The payloads, including small satellites and orbital transfer vehicles, will be deployed into a sun-synchronous orbit — one that keeps pace with the Earth’s rotation around the sun. Transporter missions are SpaceX’s scheduled rideshare flights that let many customers share a single rocket. The previous flight, Transporter-17, launched in early July carrying 81 payloads.

Delays are common in spaceflight because of weather or technical checks, and a backup launch opportunity is listed for the next day. A webcast of the launch will be available online for viewers who cannot attend in person.

The flight marks the first orbital launch from the US West Coast this month. Among the payloads is a Google research satellite testing AI chips in orbit.
