OpenAI Halves ChatGPT Pro $200 Usage From October 30
OpenAI will cut included usage on its 200-dollar ChatGPT Pro plan from October 30. ChatGPT Work and Codex usage will drop from 20 times to 10 times the Plus allowance, while GPT-6 Pro chat messages fall from 200 to 100 per week.
The price stays at 200 dollars a month. OpenAI says newer models do more with less, which is why the usage calculation is changing. The company committed not to reintroduce the five-hour limit.
Existing subscribers who held an active Pro 200 subscription between September 22 and September 29 keep their old limits through October 29. They also receive a one-time grant of 62,500 usage credits, valued at 2,500 dollars, which expire on December 31, 2026.
OpenAI also launched a new Pro 500 tier at 500 dollars a month with 25 times the Plus allowance and Ultrafast token generation. Conversations with a Dot do not count toward ChatGPT usage, but Codex and Work tasks started by a Dot do.
