Apple’s foldable iPhone Duo starts at $1,999, ships Oct 23

Apple's first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, starts at $1,999 in the US, with the top 2TB configuration priced at $3,199. Pre-orders open on October 16 and the phone goes on sale on October 23 in more than 70 countries.
The Duo was unveiled on September 9 at the first Apple event led by new chief executive John Ternus. Apple is pitching the device as an AI hub, powered by the A20 Pro chip and a rebuilt Siri. It has a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner screen, a Grade 5 titanium body and an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
The entry price came in below one analyst forecast of at least $2,500. Apple's arrival puts it into a foldable market that has shrunk for five straight quarters, with foldables making up about 2.2 per cent of smartphone shipments in 2026.
No independent durability or battery-life testing exists yet since the phone does not ship until October 23. Apple expects strong early demand from buyers upgrading within its ecosystem.
