Anthropic Launches Claude Haiku 5.5 at 75% Lower Cost

Anthropic has launched Claude Haiku 5.5, the third model in its Claude 5.5 family, expanding its AI lineup ahead of a planned IPO.
The company announced the release on October 7. Haiku 5.5 follows Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5, which launched in September.
The model is priced at $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens for prompts up to 100,000 tokens. Rates rise fivefold beyond that limit. Anthropic says average running costs are about 75 per cent lower than Haiku 4.5.
Haiku 5.5 offers a 1-million-token context window and up to 128,000 tokens of output. It adds an adjustable effort setting, a first for the Haiku line, letting developers trade cost against intelligence.
It is also the first Haiku model with built-in safeguards for a narrow set of high-risk cybersecurity requests.
The model is available now as claude-haiku-5-5 on the Claude Platform, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure. On benchmarks, it scored 72.4 per cent on OSWorld 2.1, up from 15.7 per cent for its predecessor.
