Son Heung-min becomes South Korea’s top scorer

Son Heung-min has become South Korea's all-time leading scorer. The LAFC star reached 59 international goals with a free-kick in Tuesday's 2-0 friendly win over Uzbekistan at Yongin Mireu Stadium. The sixth-minute strike took him past legend Cha Bum-kun's tally of 58. Oh Se-hun sealed the win in the 60th minute. South Korea closed the September-October international window with two wins, one draw and one loss. Son scored three goals across the four games, including another spectacular free-kick against Ecuador. The record comes at a key moment for LAFC, who recently parted ways with head coach Marc Dos Santos after winning just one of 10 matches. Interim manager Xavi Tamarit debuts on Saturday against Thomas Muller's Vancouver Whitecaps. Son has combined with fellow star Denis Bouanga for 20 goals and 21 assists this season. LAFC sit sixth in the Western Conference on 41 points, with eight games left to chase a top-four spot and home advantage in the playoffs.
