Sinner out for rest of 2026 with knee injury

World number one Jannik Sinner will miss the rest of the 2026 season as he recovers from a knee injury, his team announced on Tuesday. The 25-year-old Italian has not played since beating Alexander Zverev in the Wimbledon final in July. He withdrew from the US Open with right knee inflammation. Me, together with the doctors, have decided that I need a course of treatment for my knee, which means the 2026 season is officially over, Sinner said in a video message on Instagram. I need to think about my long-term career, so I will do everything possible to get back 100 percent. Sinner will miss the Shanghai Masters, Paris Masters and the season-ending ATP Finals in Turin, where he won the last two editions. He will also miss Italy’s Davis Cup Final 8 campaign. His absence puts his number one ranking at risk. Zverev, who won the French Open and US Open this year, is closing the gap. Doctors advised rest over surgery for the inflammation.
