Real Madrid to part ways with Dani Carvajal after 13 seasons
Real Madrid will not renew Dani Carvajal's contract, ending the captain's 13-season run at the Bernabeu.
The club announced on May 18 that the 34-year-old right-back would leave when his deal expired in June, by mutual agreement, according to multiple reports.
Carvajal, an academy graduate who joined the club aged 10, leaves with more than two dozen major trophies, including six Champions League titles, the reports said. A serious knee injury in October 2024 wrecked his final seasons, and the arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold pushed him out of the starting side.
He is now a free agent and is weighing his next move, with reported interest from clubs in Italy and Saudi Arabia. He has earned 52 caps for Spain and was part of its Euro 2024 triumph. A fitting Bernabeu farewell had been expected in the final league match.
