Raphinha Cleared for Getafe After Injury Scare

Barcelona forward Raphinha has been cleared to face Getafe after an injury scare. Medical tests found no structural damage to his right thigh.
The Brazilian was forced off at half-time during Brazil’s 4-2 friendly win over Australia in Brisbane. He had scored a penalty earlier in the match. Tests later showed only edema, or fluid buildup, in the thigh muscle.
Raphinha was excused from Brazil’s friendly against India in Calcutta. He returned to Barcelona for checks on Friday. After about 90 minutes of medical tests, the club confirmed he would be available for the October 10 match against Getafe.
The news is a relief for Barcelona coach Hansi Flick. October is a congested month with important league and European fixtures. Raphinha is one of the team’s key attackers this season.
Barcelona’s medical staff will manage his workload day by day. The club wants to avoid any setbacks with the demanding schedule ahead. The forward has been in strong form for both club and country.
Raphinha joined Barcelona’s training routine after the checks. He is expected to be in the squad for the Getafe game. The club will decide on his starting role closer to the match.
