Ferran Torres Out of Spain Squad With Ankle Injury

Paris Saint-Germain forward Ferran Torres has withdrawn from the Spain squad for the Nations League matches against the Czech Republic and Croatia. He is struggling with persistent discomfort in his left ankle.
The Spanish Football Federation confirmed the news on Friday. Medical staff decided it was safer to prioritise the player’s recovery. Torres had joined the national team camp in Las Rozas with the ankle issue.
The 26-year-old has been in fine form for PSG this season. He has scored seven goals in six matches for the French club. He also helped Spain beat England 3-2 in September with a strong performance.
Torres will now return to Paris for treatment. PSG will hope he recovers quickly ahead of a busy club schedule. The injury is not thought to be serious, but the federation did not want to take risks.
Real Madrid’s Carlos Espi has been called up as his replacement. The 20-year-old earned the call after scoring five goals and providing two assists in Spain’s Under-21 13-0 win over San Marino.
