Rahane, Karthik name cricket’s next Fab Four

Indian veterans Ajinkya Rahane and Dinesh Karthik have named their picks for cricket’s next Fab Four.
Rahane, speaking on Cricbuzz, picked Shubman Gill, Harry Brook, Rachin Ravindra and Pathum Nissanka. Karthik chose Gill, Brook, Rachin Ravindra and Travis Head.
“Shubman is only playing Test and ODI cricket, not T20, but hopefully he’ll play the third format as well,” Rahane said. “I think these four players can take Test cricket to the next level.”
The original Fab Four term, coined by New Zealand great Martin Crowe in 2014, referred to Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, Kane Williamson and Joe Root.
That group is entering the final phase of its career. Kohli now plays only ODIs. Smith has retired from ODI cricket. Williamson has retired from international cricket, while Root plays mostly Tests and ODIs.
Brook, England’s limited-overs captain, was a common pick for his record across all three formats.
Former opener Aakash Chopra had earlier named his own list: Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Brook and Rachin Ravindra.
