Padukone school signs MoU with IISM to build grassroots talent

The Padukone School of Badminton has signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Institute of Sports Management in Mumbai to strengthen grassroots badminton.
The MoU was signed on October 8 in the presence of badminton legend Prakash Padukone and IISM founder Nilesh Kulkarni. Speaking on the occasion, Padukone said India’s future champions will increasingly come from tier-2 and tier-3 cities if they get quality infrastructure, coaching and equipment.
He stressed that talent exists in smaller towns but needs structured support to flourish. The partnership will combine the school’s coaching network with IISM’s sports management expertise.
Tahsin Zahid of the Sports, Physical Education, Fitness and Leisure Sector Skills Council was also present. The Padukone School of Badminton runs centres across India and aims to take the sport to the grassroots.
The Padukone School of Badminton operates dozens of centres across the country and has produced several international players. The tie-up with IISM is expected to add sports science and management support to its coaching programmes.
