Haaland urges unity after Man City guilty verdict

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has urged the club’s supporters to stick together after City were found guilty of more than 100 breaches of Premier League financial rules. City have appealed, calling the judgment full of clear material errors of law, principle and fact. An independent commission ruled that City used sham commercial contracts in a disguised funding scheme that inflated revenue and cut costs by more than £900 million ($1.19 billion) between 2009 and 2018. We have to stick together, we have to stay positive, Haaland told Sky Sports. No matter what happens in life, we always have to have a smile. If the appeal fails, City face possible sanctions including a points deduction, relegation or expulsion from the league. Haaland, who joined in 2022 and has a contract until 2034, said his bond with the club and its fans runs deep. City lead the table by three points and play Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday in their first match since the verdict, in what promises to be an emotionally charged game.
