Kranti Gaud fined for fiery send-off in Asia Cup final

India pacer Kranti Gaud has been fined 10 percent of her match fee for an aggressive send-off during the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 final against Sri Lanka in Dubai. She was also handed one demerit point.
The incident took place in the first over of Sri Lanka’s chase. After dismissing opener Imesha Dulani, Gaud gestured aggressively towards the batter. Match referee Supriya Das of Bangladesh found her guilty of breaching Level 1 of Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct.
Article 2.5 covers the use of language, actions or gestures that could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter after dismissal. Level 1 offences can attract a fine of up to 50 percent of the match fee and one or two demerit points. This was her first offence of this kind in a 24-month period.
India won the final by 72 runs to lift the Women’s Asia Cup title. Shafali Verma scored 68 and Shree Charani took four wickets as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 111.
