Kiffin’s LSU sets records in 63-14 rout of McNeese

No. 11 LSU produced a record-breaking performance in a 63-14 demolition of McNeese State on Saturday night.
The Tigers set single-game program records with 39 first downs and 101 offensive plays. Their 731 total yards were the second-most in school history, just short of the 746 gained against Rice in 1977.
Quarterback Sam Leavitt threw for 176 yards and three touchdowns on 18-of-23 passing. LSU ran for 367 yards as a team, with sophomore Harlem Berry leading the way with 125 yards and a score.
The Tigers scored the game's first 49 points before emptying the bench. LSU improved to 4-1 ahead of a brutal seven-game SEC stretch.
Coach Lane Kiffin shrugged off the records. Milestones mean nothing to him, he said: the team will break them all anyway.
Kiffin was even seen chewing out his team at half-time despite a 35-0 lead. The message was clear: standards do not slip, whatever the score.
