Indian boxer Kapil Pokhariya has assured India a boxing medal at the Asian Games 2026. He reached the men’s 90 kg semifinals on September 28.

He beat South Korea’s Kim Gichae in the quarterfinal at the Nishio Gymnasium. It was a unanimous 5-0 win.

Pokhariya won the first round 5-0 with sharp left hooks. He inflicted a standing count in the second round. One judge scored that round 8 after the standing count.

He closed out the bout in the third round. It is India’s sixth boxing medal of the Games. The quarterfinal was held at the Nishio Gymnasium.

He will now face Turabek Khabibullaev in the semifinal. Khabibullaev won gold at the 2025 World Championships. A win will take Pokhariya into the final.

On the same day, Lovlina Borgohain and Priya Ghanghas also won. They compete in the women’s 75 kg and 60 kg categories. Both assured themselves of medals too.
