Mandhana to lead as BCCI names squads for Zimbabwe series

The BCCI on Tuesday announced India's squads for the upcoming T20I and ODI series against Zimbabwe, with Smriti Mandhana set to lead as full-time captain for the first time.
Mandhana's appointment was confirmed earlier the same day after Harmanpreet Kaur stepped down from the leadership role across formats. Opener Shafali Verma was named vice-captain for the three-match T20I series, while all-rounder Deepti Sharma will be Mandhana's deputy in the ODIs. Harmanpreet remains part of both squads as a player.
The T20I squad includes maiden call-ups for Niki Prasad and Jintimani Kalita. According to the BCCI, the three T20Is will be played in Raipur on October 16, 18 and 20, while the ODIs are scheduled in Vadodara on October 23, 25 and 28.
Jemimah Rodrigues misses out as she continues to recover from a hamstring injury. The series will be India's first assignment after the women's team retained the Asian Games gold in Aichi-Nagoya.
