Haaland Subbed Off as Injury Fears Surface After Portugal Defeat

Erling Haaland sparked injury fears after being substituted in the 67th minute of Norway’s 2-1 Nations League defeat to Portugal in Porto on Sunday. Television footage showed the Manchester City striker limping, raising alarm among fans with a crucial Premier League clash at Liverpool’s Anfield coming up on October 11.
Norway coach Stale Solbakken moved quickly to calm the fears, saying the substitution was pre-planned because of fatigue. Haaland had played four internationals in the window, and Solbakken said the plan was always to rest him. “There is no injury,” the coach insisted after the match.
City supporters will still be nervous until Haaland is seen training normally. The striker is central to City’s title challenge, and any absence against Liverpool would be a major blow. The club’s medical staff are expected to assess him when he reports back. For now, Norway and City both say it was only tiredness, not an injury.
