The second ODI between India and West Indies in Guwahati on Wednesday faces a serious rain threat, with forecasts warning of afternoon thunderstorms at the Barsapara Stadium.

Weather models put the chance of afternoon rain between about 25 and 78 per cent, with thunderstorms most likely around the 2pm start. The toss is scheduled for 1:30pm IST. Morning conditions were hot and hazy at around 35 degrees with high humidity.

Dew is expected to be a major factor if play goes ahead, which could make the toss crucial. Captains usually prefer chasing at this venue when dew sets in during the evening.

India lead the three-match series 1-0 after an eight-wicket win in the opener, where Shubman Gill hit 110 and Virat Kohli smashed an unbeaten 139. West Indies, who scored 295 batting first with Justin Greaves making 101, will hope the weather does not deny them a chance to level the series.
