The Denver Broncos erased a 16-point halftime deficit to beat the Los Angeles Rams 30-26 on Sunday night, sealed by Bo Nix’s go-ahead touchdown dive with 47 seconds left. The win lifted Denver to 2-1, while the Rams fell to 1-2.

The Rams controlled the first half, building a 16-0 lead behind Matthew Stafford’s touchdown pass to Tyler Higbee and three Harrison Mevis field goals. Denver tied it at 16 in the third quarter on two Nix touchdown passes and two two-point conversions.

Safety Talanoa Hufanga gave Denver its first lead at 23-19 with a 66-yard interception return with 4:49 remaining. Stafford answered with a 48-yard touchdown pass to Konata Mumpfield, restoring the Rams’ lead at 26-23 with 3:38 left.

Nix then drove 65 yards in 10 plays, aided by three defensive penalties, and dove over the pile for the winner. Stafford drove the Rams to the Denver 14, but Hufanga intercepted his end-zone pass, his second of the night, to seal the win. “Obviously a gutsy win,” coach Sean Payton said, according to the Associated Press.

Why it matters: Denver has now pulled off back-to-back second-half comebacks, while the Rams, preseason NFC favorites, have lost two of three.
