Bafana Bafana face Egypt in an international friendly at Cairo International Stadium on Sunday, with kick-off scheduled for 20:00 South African time.

Coach Pitso Mosimane has confirmed he will rotate his squad and give match minutes to players who did not feature in the recent 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. South Africa arrive after two qualifying wins — 2-1 over Guinea in Soweto and 5-0 over Eritrea in Cairo last Wednesday.

Defender Ime Okon said the players were excited for the test. “Egypt is one of the biggest teams in Africa and as a player you always want to play the best teams,” he told SAFA’s website.

The fixture is the 16th meeting between the two nations. Bafana hold the upper hand historically with eight wins to Egypt’s five, while two ended in draws.

Egypt will be without Mohamed Salah, who was excused from the squad after an agreement with the technical staff to rest the captain during the international break. Goalkeepers Sipho Chaine and Ricardo Goss are among those expected to feature for the reshuffled South African side.
