Hyderabad startup TakeMe2Space will launch what it describes as India’s first orbital computing satellite on October 1. The spacecraft, MOI-1A, will fly aboard a SpaceX Transporter-18 rideshare mission.

The sub-50 kg satellite carries Nvidia Orin NX edge-computing processors that use about 150 watts of power. Customers can upload containerized AI models to the satellite, which processes data over a target area and sends down only the final analysis.

The company says this approach cuts the cost and delay of sending raw imagery to Earth. It has signed 23 customers, including mapping firms, educational institutions and commercial users in agriculture, mining, supply chains and insurance.

Founder and CEO Ronak Samantray said the mission follows a successful 2024 technology demonstration that validated AI inference in orbit. An earlier full mission, MOI-1, was lost in a rocket failure in January.

The startup raised $5 million in seed funding in January 2026 led by Chiratae Ventures. The launch marks a step toward affordable in-orbit data services for Indian and global clients.
