ISRO targets Oct 15-20 launch of NVS-03 to revive NavIC

ISRO is targeting a launch window of October 15 to 20 for the NVS-03 navigation satellite, a mission aimed at reviving India's NavIC satellite navigation system.
The spacecraft will fly aboard a GSLV Mk II rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The launch campaign began in mid-September, and the rocket's first stage has already been assembled.
NavIC, India's regional navigation system, has been in decline. Only three of its satellites are currently available for positioning, so the constellation cannot provide standalone navigation services. Its timing service remains operational.
NVS-03 is part of the second generation of NavIC satellites. The mission will also demonstrate corrective measures introduced after NVS-02 suffered a propulsion system failure following its January 2025 launch.
The satellite is already at the Sriharikota spaceport, and government authorisation was granted in September. The dates remain a target rather than a confirmed schedule, with final timing depending on integration, spacecraft checks and mission readiness reviews.
