ISRO targets October 15-20 launch for NVS-03 satellite

ISRO is targeting October 15 to 20 for the launch of the NVS-03 navigation satellite. The mission will help restore India’s NavIC satellite navigation system.
The satellite will fly on a GSLV Mk II rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The launch campaign began on September 14.
NavIC is India’s home-grown alternative to GPS. But only three of its satellites can currently provide positioning. At least four are needed for basic service.
NVS-03 is meant to close that gap. It will also carry fixes introduced after the NVS-02 satellite suffered a propulsion failure following its January 2025 launch.
The satellite is already at the spaceport. Government approval for the mission came through in September, clearing the way for final preparations. The satellite had been waiting for clearance alongside the GISAT-1A spacecraft. Assembly of the rocket first stage is already complete at the spaceport.
The dates are a working target, not a confirmed schedule. Final timing will depend on vehicle checks, spacecraft tests, and range availability.
