France’s SiPearl and Quobly sign quantum computing deal

French chip designer SiPearl and quantum computing startup Quobly have signed a memorandum of understanding to combine their technologies. The companies announced the deal on Friday. The goal is to build a quantum computing system made with European technology. The two firms will work on hybrid workloads that mix high-performance and quantum computing, and on designs for future products. They also plan to coordinate bids for EU tenders, including quantum projects under the Chips Joint Undertaking.
SiPearl’s 80-core Rhea1 chip is due on the market at the end of 2026 and will power JUPITER, Europe’s first exascale supercomputer.Grenoble-based Quobly raised 115 million euros in June. It plans to offer cloud access to its first systems from the end of 2026 and aims to reach one million qubits by 2032.The partnership is part of a wider European push to develop sovereign technology in strategic sectors. Quantum computers could one day solve problems far beyond the reach of today’s machines, from drug design to logistics.
