The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research has launched five new science magazines as part of its 85th foundation day celebrations, in a bid to take science to the masses. The titles, published in English, Hindi and regional languages, will cover research developments, innovations and the stories of Indian scientists.

The magazines are aimed at students, teachers and the general public, with content designed to be accessible without diluting scientific accuracy. Editors have been drawn from across CSIR’s network of laboratories, which spans disciplines from aerospace to oceanography.

The launch reflects a renewed push to build scientific temper, with the council betting that engaging storytelling can compete for attention in a crowded media landscape. The magazines will be available in print and digital formats, and CSIR plans to distribute them through schools, colleges and its outreach programmes. Officials said future editions would feature reader contributions and coverage of grassroots innovations.
