Trump: super PAC will pay for pro-Trump TV ads

President Donald Trump has said his super PAC will pay for a series of pro-Trump television ads, ending their funding with taxpayer money.
Trump announced the reversal on Truth Social on October 5. He said he would pay for the “Patriotic Ads” himself and with money raised for MAGA, Inc.
The move follows bipartisan criticism. Lawmakers from both parties questioned the legality of using federal funds for ads promoting the president. Some called it a possible misuse of taxpayer money for political publicity.
The White House had defended the spots as public service announcements. One ad was nearly identical to a 2024 Trump campaign commercial.
Ad tracking firm AdImpact estimated that at least $10 million in taxpayer money has been spent on the ads since September. The ads were funded through a $20 million contract using Department of Homeland Security funds.
At least 13 campaign-style ads have been created so far. Unaired spots include ads on the military, operations in Iran and Venezuela, and one titled “God Made Trump”.
