Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer warned on September 27 against deleting names from the draft electoral roll without proper verification, after more than 350 electors were marked “ineligible,” about 200 of them from the Vikaspuri constituency. The markings raised concerns over arbitrary removals.

The CEO’s office said notices do not mean deletion. No name can be removed without giving the person an opportunity to be heard and issuing a speaking, appealable order, it said. The draft roll was published on August 31, 2026, covering about 97.5 lakh electors. About 33 lakh verification notices were issued under the special intensive revision. Claims and objections must be disposed of by October 29, with the final roll due on November 4.

On the same day, the Delhi government unveiled its New Industrial Policy 2026-2036 to attract next-generation technology industries. The policy focuses on modern infrastructure, ease of doing business, and investment and innovation.
