BJP MP Bhardwaj accuses Congress of spreading confusion over SIR

BJP MP Rajeev Bhardwaj on Thursday accused the Congress and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi of spreading confusion and misinformation about the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
Speaking at a press conference in Dharamshala on October 2, the Kangra MP said it was important to place the facts before the public amid allegations against the Election Commission over the SIR process.
Bhardwaj said the Chief Election Commissioner and the two Election Commissioners had jointly clarified, after a full EC meeting, that all SIR decisions were taken unanimously. He rejected Congress allegations about Form-6 and the declaration process.
He also claimed a media report about an Election Commission letter to the Cabinet Secretary had been misrepresented. According to him, it was an internal administrative note about an officer on deputation, with no link to SIR policy.
The BJP MP alleged the Congress was ‘continuously shrinking’ and was therefore targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and autonomous institutions. The row over the voter-roll revision continues.
