Police Lathi-Charge Bihar SI Aspirants In Patna March

A protest by Bihar Police Sub-Inspector aspirants in Patna turned confrontational on Monday. Police used batons to disperse candidates marching against the cancellation of the mains examination for 1,799 posts.
The candidates marched from Gandhi Maidan towards JP Golambar. Police had set up barricades to stop them from advancing further. When protesters were stopped, a clash broke out.
Reports say police resorted to a lathi-charge to disperse the crowd. Videos showing male and female candidates confronting police have circulated widely. The complete context of individual clips could not be independently verified.
After being stopped, the protesters sat on the road and demanded a direct meeting with the Chief Minister. Police asked them to nominate a five-member delegation, but the candidates refused.
The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission had cancelled the mains examination citing unavoidable reasons. The candidates say they passed the preliminary and mains exams and were preparing for the physical test.
