New BMW 3 Series debuts with first fully electric i3

BMW has unveiled the new 3 Series, including the first fully electric version of the model, the i3. The range premiered on September 30 on the company’s Neue Klasse platform.
The i3 comes in two all-electric variants at launch: the i3 40 xDrive and the i3 50 xDrive. The latter offers up to 912 km of claimed WLTP range from a 108.7 kWh battery, with 400 kW DC fast charging.
Mild-hybrid petrol versions continue alongside the electric models. The sportiest is the M350 xDrive with 443 bhp. A plug-in hybrid will follow in 2027.
German pricing starts at 49,900 euros for the 318 and 54,900 euros for the 320. The i3 starts at 59,900 euros, while the M350 xDrive starts at 80,900 euros. A fully loaded car can cross 101,000 euros.
Orders opened on September 30, 2026. Production begins next month at BMW’s Dingolfing plant in Germany.
The new range marks the traditional 3 Series’ move into the electric era. BMW calls the electric i3 the second representative of its Neue Klasse platform, after the iX3 electric SUV.
