Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held bilateral meetings with her counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Nepal and Jordan on the sidelines of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) gathering on September 29.

The meetings, reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, covered investment, infrastructure financing and deepening economic partnerships.

India’s engagement with Saudi Arabia has gathered pace in recent years, spanning energy, investment flows and a growing strategic dialogue, including cooperation under the proposed economic corridor.

The talks with Switzerland, Nepal and Jordan similarly focused on strengthening trade and investment linkages at a time when New Delhi is actively expanding its economic diplomacy.

The AIIB meet has become a regular fixture for such bilaterals, giving finance ministers a venue to advance country-specific agendas alongside the multilateral discussions. India has pitched itself as a reliable investment destination for Gulf capital, while Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 diversification has opened new avenues for Indian firms. The AIIB platform has increasingly become a venue for such bilateral economic diplomacy.
