Security forces arrested seven alleged cadres of the banned PREPAK (Pro) in Manipur. The arrests were made on October 4 in Imphal West.

Police said the operations followed intelligence inputs. The targets were linked to a recruitment network and an August 28 IED attack at a Konthoujam MLA’s residence.

Six adults were arrested along with a juvenile. A minor allegedly being groomed for recruitment was also rescued.

A yellow Honda Activa scooter suspected to have been used in the activities was seized. The suspects were handed over to Lamphel police station.

Investigations are underway to map the recruitment network. Security forces said such operations will continue to keep the region stable.

PREPAK (Pro) is a banned insurgent outfit active in Manipur. Police said two of those arrested were linked to the August 28 IED blast. The blast had targeted the home of a Konthoujam constituency MLA. Recruitment of minors by such groups remains a concern. Security forces have stepped up intelligence-led operations. Officials said the network’s wider links are under probe.
