IMD Warns of Extremely Heavy Rain in Chhattisgarh, Odisha Today

The India Meteorological Department has warned of extremely heavy rainfall, of 21 cm or more, over Chhattisgarh and Odisha on October 2.

Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam face the same warning. Bihar is likely to see extremely heavy rain on October 3 and 4.

Heavy rain is also forecast for Tamil Nadu until October 5, Kerala until October 6, and the northeast until October 5.

Delhi-NCR may see moderate to heavy showers, with a high of 34 degrees Celsius and gusty winds of 25 to 30 kmph.

The IMD advised residents in affected states to avoid waterlogged areas. Fishermen were warned against venturing into rough seas.

The monsoon’s retreat has been delayed in several regions. State disaster teams are on standby.

The next bulletin is expected on October 3.

The IMD said a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal is driving the heavy rain. Waterlogging has been reported in parts of Odisha. Railways said some trains may face delays in affected zones. Authorities urged people to follow official advisories.
