Reform Utsav launched on Gandhi Jayanti to revamp Jal Jeevan

Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil launched the Jal Jeevan Mission Reform Utsav on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2, kicking off a 16-day campaign to transform rural water supply.
The initiative, running from October 2 to 17, is part of a nationwide campaign that will continue through December 2026. It includes Jan Manthan and Jan Samadhan phases focused on community feedback and grievance redressal.
The Reform Utsav aims to improve the functioning of village water supply schemes, strengthen local committees and ensure every rural household gets safe tap water regularly.
The Jal Jeevan Mission, launched in 2019, has connected crores of rural households with tap water. The government says the reform drive will fix gaps in maintenance and service quality.
Officials said the campaign will involve states, district administrations and village water committees. Paatil urged citizens to take ownership of local water assets, saying sustained reforms are key to making the mission’s gains permanent.
