The central government is preparing for Special Campaign 6, its annual cleanliness and efficiency drive.

The preparatory phase is underway. The main campaign will run from October 2 to October 31, 2026.

The campaign covers office cleanliness, record management, disposal of e-waste and clearing of pending files. Ministries and departments across the country will take part.

The Department of Consumer Affairs has already started related activities under Swachhata Hi Seva 2026. Other ministries, including New and Renewable Energy, are also gearing up.

The special campaigns began a few years ago to make government offices cleaner and more efficient. Past rounds have led to lakhs of pending files being cleared and scrap being sold.

The government says the campaign improves the work culture and reduces clutter in offices. It also helps digitise old records.

Officers have been asked to identify pending references and old equipment for disposal. Progress will be reviewed at the end of the month-long drive.
