Students from the National Institute of Fashion Technology have won two silver medals and one Medal for Excellence at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026.

The event, held from September 23 to 26, is the world's biggest skills competition. Young professionals from many countries compete in dozens of trades.

The NIFT students competed in fashion-related skills. Their wins show India's growing strength in design and craft education.

India finished tenth overall in the competition. The Indian team won medals across several skills, marking one of its best performances.

WorldSkills is often called the Olympics of skills. It tests practical ability in areas like cooking, welding, web design and fashion.

Officials from the Textiles Ministry praised the winners. They said the medals prove that Indian design training can match global standards. The team will now train for the next edition. India is investing more in skill training to prepare its young workforce for global jobs.
