Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday said the state government is working to secure international employment for its youth, pointing to demand for workers in more than 28 countries.

He was speaking at the online inauguration of the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Maharojgar Melava, held across the Konkan and Nashik divisions and organised at SNDT Women’s University in Mumbai by the Department of Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

According to the Chief Minister, nearly one lakh young men and women registered for the job fair, which offered more than 25,000 vacancies, with Rs 2,500 crore flowing into skilling initiatives. The government aims to provide jobs to at least 50,000 people immediately.

Fadnavis personally presented appointment letters to two candidates hired by Crewa Capital Services Pvt Ltd during the event, which was organised under the Sewa Sankalp Abhiyan marking 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public leadership.

He said education, training and employment form the “critical triad” needed to realise the vision of a developed India by 2047, adding that a degree alone is no longer enough in an era of AI, semiconductors and quantum computing.
