Karthik Subbaraj’s Tamil drama ‘Dorothy’ posted its strongest day on Sunday, pushing its three-day India net collection to Rs 3.55 crore, according to Sacnilk estimates. The film released on September 25, 2026.

The film earned about Rs 90 lakh net on Friday, Rs 1.25 crore on Saturday, and roughly Rs 1.40 crore on Sunday — about 12% growth over Saturday. Occupancy rose from 33% on Friday to 46% on Sunday across 778 shows. Worldwide gross was Rs 4.15 crore after three days, all from India, with no overseas figures reported.

Tamil Nadu drove the show. Of Sunday’s Rs 1.65 crore India gross, Rs 1.30 crore came from Tamil Nadu alone. The state’s three-day gross was Rs 3.37 crore, against Rs 20 lakh in Karnataka and Rs 10 lakh in Kerala.

The film stars Keerthy Suresh, Sananth and Rishikanth, with music by Ilaiyaraaja. Set in 1990s rural Tamil Nadu, it follows two childhood friends, Karthi and Subbu, and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11. Response has been mixed, but distributor Sakthi Film Factory has added extra shows. Subbaraj answered criticism over the film’s trans characters with an X post saying, “Be calm and believe in the audience.”
