Chandigarh received fresh rainfall over the weekend, bringing much-needed relief to residents after a prolonged dry spell.

The showers, which began on Saturday and continued through Monday, were triggered by a fresh western disturbance. The rain washed away dust, cooled temperatures and eased the humidity that had been troubling the city.

The weather department said the system brought moderate rainfall across the tricity region, including parts of Panchkula and Mohali. Day temperatures dropped noticeably, giving residents a break from the warm afternoons.

The rain was welcomed by farmers in the surrounding areas, who said the moisture would benefit standing crops. City officials said drainage systems coped well, with no major waterlogging reported.

The Met office has forecast more showers in the coming days as the weather system moves eastward. Residents have been advised to stay updated with weather alerts, though no severe weather warning is in place for the region.
