Central Railway will run an intensive, month-long ticket-checking drive from October 1 to October 31 across its network. The campaign will focus on concessional fares, specified reservation quotas, railway passes and the authenticity of unreserved tickets.

Under the drive, passengers travelling on concession tickets or under special quotas must carry the prescribed original identity and eligibility documents. For tickets booked for multiple passengers, at least one person named on the booking must carry a valid original ID. If it cannot be produced, all passengers on the ticket may be treated as travelling without a valid ticket and face penalties.

Passengers using E-Passes or Privilege Ticket Orders must carry the required original identity proof and ensure the pass is exchanged for the prescribed authority to travel before boarding. Checking staff will use the TTE app to verify bookings where needed.

The drive has been timed ahead of the festive travel season, when passenger numbers rise sharply around Diwali and Chhath Puja. It also builds on a rule change under the Jan Vishwas Act that raised the minimum fine for ticketless travel to Rs 500 from June 20, 2026.
