Ayush services economy valued at $36.9 billion, study finds

India’s Ayush services sector contributed an estimated 36.92 billion dollars to the economy in FY25. A new national study says it could grow to between 216 and 318 billion dollars by 2047.
The study by the Research and Information System for Developing Countries found the sector growing at 16.91 per cent a year since FY23. It supports about 1.76 million livelihoods.
Medical Value Travel linked to Ayush generated 1.77 billion dollars in FY25. International patients make up only 5 per cent of patient volumes but contribute 15 to 25 per cent of hospital revenues, thanks to longer treatment stays.
The findings rest on a survey of 15,914 establishments across all six Ayush systems. It is the first national measurement of the sector’s economic weight. Women form 43 per cent of the workforce.
The report was released during the 11th Ayurveda Day celebrations in Nagpur on September 30. Minister of State Prataprao Jadhav called Ayush a ‘dynamic and high-growth engine’ of the economy.
