The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rain and thunderstorms across large parts of India from October 7 to 10. Northwest India will see scattered to widespread rain with gusty winds of 30 to 50 kmph on October 7. Isolated heavy rain is likely over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi.

South peninsular India will get light to moderate rain with isolated heavy spells. Tamil Nadu will see heavy rain till October 12. Kerala and Mahe will stay wet till October 13. Thunderstorms with lightning are expected over Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over the next five days.

The northeast will see heavy rain over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura from October 8 to 10. East and central India will get light to moderate rain with gusty winds. Delhi-NCR has already seen rain since morning. The department has advised travellers to check morning nowcasts and airline alerts before setting out on Wednesday.
