Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has called for strict laws and social-media censorship against people who create fake AI-generated videos, speaking during the Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 20.

Khan said AI had advanced to a “scary” level where anyone’s voice could be dubbed to make them appear to say things they never said. He distinguished between people who unknowingly share such content and those who knowingly create it: “Those kinds of people should be put behind bars.” He added that manipulated videos can seriously harm individuals and their families, noting that he himself has appeared in AI-generated videos.

Khan’s remarks add to his recent comments on online trolling during Bigg Boss 20, and come amid growing concern over deepfakes targeting public figures. He said he intends to take the issue up “very seriously.”

India’s debate over deepfake regulation has intensified this year, with the government pressing platforms to act faster on manipulated content. Khan joins a growing list of actors and politicians demanding clearer laws, though experts caution that enforcement and detection remain the harder problems.
